Singapore and start of Australia

Good day dear followers,

Here an all new update from your favorite traveling bloggers...

Singapore: Famous for its high fines for littering, and with great result: what a modern, organized and clean city! We just had to go on the worlds biggest Ferris Wheel, bringing people up to 165 meters for a spectacular view in one of the 28 city bus size cabins. (picture from view as well as us in front of the wheel).
We visited 3(!) zoos, the 'day zoo', the next door brand new 'river safari' and again next to: the 'night safari'. From the last one are no proper pictures, as it was too dark for the camera. But we did see two of the last 400 remaining (sadly) Sumatran Tigers, and just when he was getting food. Very cool. In the river safari we spotted a Panda Bear (photo); pretty lucky, the other one was in her den and even though she does that so often that the zoo installed a camera, she managed to sleep just out of camera sight as well (speaking about being camera shy).
In the city park we bumped into many turtles and one of the big lizards (photo).

It was time to go to Sydney. It seemed that all the locals dress up all the time or are busy doing some kind of sports. Obviously we visited the Sydney Opera house and the Harbour Bridge (pictures). While walking after dinner, next to the Opera House, we saw a small practise run for the fire works, after all the year of the horse was getting close.
On a Saturday night we saw the beautiful real fire works, or so we thought, later it turned out this was 'just' the weekly display, sponsored by the bars and pups around the harbour. Sunday evening it was time for the big Chinese light parade (picture of the horse attached). Followed by the real new years fireworks (picture).

Currently we are in Brisbane. People dress more laid back, enabling us to blend in way more with our travel outfit; however the sports continue. Looking at the Australian map, the city seems to be about the same longitude as Sydney, there is an hour time difference; making it, to our opinion, too early sunny and too early dark.
We visited a Koala/Kangaroo zoo where we both fed a Kangaroo (pictures). Somebody told us that the word Kangaroo for the animal comes from the following: An English man asked an Aboriginal: "what is that animal called?", and received the answer "I don't understand your question..." in Aboriginal: "Kangaroo". And so the English guy assumed that Kangaroo was the word for that strange animal that carries around her baby in a special belly pack, hopping and jumping around in the countryside.
We learned that a Koala is not a bear and Koala mam carries her babies is such a special belly pack, hence the reason to be in the same zoo. On the picture one is eating their favorite food: eucalyptus tree leaves. On the other pictures we found a few in a row (note though that the most right is one of us :-) ).

Till a next blog, or as they say here: no worries mate!

Looks amazing! Seeing those pics from Australia makes us feel homesick...
Koala's are the best if you ask me, but that panda looks pretty awesome too. Just amazing, all the things you are seeing and doing. Take care!
