Week on islands of Malaysia

As mentioned in the previous update, we where on route to a tropical island for a well deserved break from the travelling.
From Kuala Lumpur we took a bus to Georgetown. The bus had luxury seats, airco and even left on time. On top of that, roads in Malaysia are not that bad. We where a bit surprised....so different than some other Asian countries.
Georgetown has two things to remember: 1) There was a pretty good running sushi restaurant. 2) There is a harbour from which boats go to Langkawi.
While on the sort of big speed boat we made a stop full at sea, to meet with a, what we think, ship with engine problems. Our boat tried to rescue the people from other ship, however as you can see on the pictures, this worked out not that great. The protection pillow between boats crashed trough the window, breaking it completely. Although one of us was about to fetch the lifejackets and thought we where up for a swim...; in the end it worked out fine.
Langkawi tropical island: now this is a place to remember. It has it all: palm tries, very good Malaysian and Western food in nice restaurants, blue sea, ... the works.....
in addition, there is a cable cart, bringing you to 700 meters, for a stunning view (most likely if it would not be a bit cloudy; but still pretty nice). Only the ride itself is a bit scary, pretty steep and no nice fluffy snow in case it all collapses.
One day we rented a scooter, driving all round the island. A bit hot in the full sun but simple driving faster created a nice breeze... By coincidence we ended up at black sand beach, mentioned in the Lonely Planet. Later we took part in a small boat trip to a cave, home to hundreds of bats.
Another day we made a island hopping trip. We ended up swimming in a huge fresh water lake surrounded by wild monkeys.
During these trips and on the way we found new animals that needed proper feeding: crocodiles, sea hawks and even some rabbits.
And now we are on route to Miri, a city on the other side of the South China Sea.

spannend hoor die redding , schrikken als dat raam stuk gaat... . zo te lezen erg mooi vakantie land maleisie.. leuk zwemmen met apen om je heen.....wij hebben hier gewoon regen, en kou maar helaas geen sneeuw

Hoi hoi,
wat een leuke dingen doen jullie, echt dingen die je niet snel zult vergeten.
Bobby heeft de film jungle book gezien en wil ook graag een keer naar de jungle. dat wil ik met hem gaan doen als ie een jaar of 15 is. Hij is nu alvast zijn rugtasje aan het klaarzetten met spullen waarmee ie zich tegen de wilde dieren kan gaan beschermen hihihi!
Staat er bij jullie op het program eigenlijk ook een jungle tocht? Bobby is erg geintereseerd, dus stuur graag foto's door!
Best spannend die redding inderdaad, je weet nooit of de rest van het schip ook een barstje heeft opgelopen en je onderwater ook een kijkje mag gaan nemen...
Hadden jullie veel van de dingen die jullie doen al gepland thuis of lopen jullie er tegenaan?
